Employer Listing Terms
Last updated: April 2026
These Employer Listing Terms supplement the Terms of Use and apply specifically to employers and recruiters who post job listings on Boaty Jobs. By posting a listing, you agree to both documents.
1. Listing tiers and pricing
Boaty Jobs offers three listing tiers. Pricing is in Euro and inclusive of VAT where applicable.
| Tier | Price | Duration | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | 30 days | Standard listing in chronological order; applicants contact you via the platform |
| Featured | €50 / month | 30 days | Pinned to the top of relevant search results throughout the paid period; “Featured” badge; inclusion in the Boaty Jobs weekly job alert newsletter |
| Premium | €120 / 3 months | 90 days | All Featured benefits for the full 90-day period; inclusion in all weekly newsletters sent during the paid period; highlighted “Premium” badge |
Prices are subject to change. Changes will be communicated by updating this page at least 14 days before taking effect and will not apply to listings already purchased.
2. Posting a listing
To post a listing you must create a recruiter account and provide accurate information about your organisation and the vacancy. You must have the legal authority to recruit for the role you are advertising.
- Each listing must describe a genuine, specific vacancy in the marine sector. Generic “talent pool” adverts are not permitted on Free or Featured tiers; contact us to discuss bespoke arrangements.
- Listings must clearly state the job title, location (or remote/offshore arrangements), required certifications, and compensation range where possible.
- Listings must comply with the Employment Equality Acts 1998–2015 and must not discriminate on the grounds of gender, civil status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, race, or membership of the Traveller community.
- You may not include personal contact details (phone numbers, personal email addresses, or external application links that bypass the Boaty Jobs application flow) unless on a Featured or Premium plan and agreed in advance with us.
3. Listing duration and renewal
- Free listings are active for 30 calendar days from the date of publication. After expiry, the listing is marked inactive and removed from search results. It is not automatically renewed.
- Featured listings are active for the calendar month in which payment is made. They are not automatically renewed; a new payment is required to re-feature a listing.
- Premium listings are active for 90 calendar days from the date of payment. They are not automatically renewed.
- Expired listings remain visible in your recruiter dashboard and can be reactivated by posting a new listing or upgrading your tier.
- We reserve the right to set the listing as inactive before expiry if the role is filled, if you request removal, or if the listing violates these Terms.
4. Payment
- Payments for Featured and Premium listings are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
- Payment is due in full at the time of upgrading a listing. Your listing will be promoted immediately upon successful payment confirmation from Stripe.
- VAT at the applicable Irish rate will be added to payments made by Irish-based businesses. EU businesses with a valid VAT registration number may supply it during checkout to apply the reverse charge mechanism.
- You will receive a payment receipt by email from Stripe upon successful payment. Requests for formal VAT invoices should be directed to accounts@boatyjobs.com.
5. Refund policy
- No refunds are offered once a listing is live. By completing payment you acknowledge that the service is being delivered immediately and waive any right of withdrawal under the EU Consumer Rights Directive that would otherwise apply during the 14-day cooling-off period (Article 16(a) of Directive 2011/83/EU).
- If a listing is taken down by Boaty Jobs for breach of these Terms, no refund will be issued and your account may be suspended.
- If a listing is taken down due to a verified technical error on our part (e.g. the listing was not published despite successful payment), we will offer a full refund or a replacement listing period, at your choice.
- Goodwill refunds or partial refunds may be considered at our sole discretion in exceptional circumstances. Contact support@boatyjobs.com.
6. Content standards
All listings are subject to review. We reserve the right (but have no obligation) to review, edit, or remove any listing that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable. In particular, listings will be removed if they:
- advertise roles that do not exist or are designed to collect CVs speculatively;
- contain discriminatory, offensive, or harassing language;
- misrepresent the employer, vessel, location, compensation, or working conditions;
- require job seekers to pay a fee to apply or to obtain employment;
- advertise roles that are not related to the marine or watersports industry;
- violate any applicable employment, consumer protection, or data protection law.
7. Data protection obligations for employers
When you receive job applications through the platform, you receive personal data (name, email, CV, cover letter) submitted by job seekers. You agree that:
- You will process applicants' personal data only for the purpose of assessing their application for the specific role advertised.
- You will comply with the GDPR and all applicable data protection legislation in your jurisdiction in respect of applicant data.
- You will not retain unsuccessful applicants' data for longer than is necessary — typically no more than 12 months after the vacancy closes — unless you have obtained the applicant's explicit consent to hold their data on file for future opportunities.
- You will implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect applicant data.
- You will respond to any data subject access or erasure request from an applicant within the timescales required by GDPR (one month).
For the purposes of GDPR, you act as an independent data controller in respect of personal data received from applicants. Boaty Jobs is not a data processor on your behalf in relation to such data.
8. Liability
You are solely responsible for the content of your listings and for your interactions with job seekers. Boaty Jobs accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Service as an employer, including but not limited to unsuccessful recruitment, employment disputes, or losses resulting from reliance on applicant information. Our general limitation of liability as set out in the Terms of Use applies.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these Employer Listing Terms at any time. Significant changes (e.g. pricing updates or changes to permitted listing content) will be announced at least 14 days in advance via email and a notice on this page. Continued use of the employer listing service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
